RE-1 School District marks UCS’ first time as a full-service contractor including engineering, programming, and installation. Providing integration at all the schools in the district as well as full system replacement at Sterling High School, UCS is eager to provide an updated system complete with district wide analytics to serve the faculty and students for years to come.
Data Centers & Biotech
UCS was invited to perform the programming work as well as assist as technical support to other aspects of the project Edgecore is an advanced system being the second of its kind in the United States.
Utilizing Phoenix Contact JACEs to monitor two redundant systems simultaneously, the Edgecore system will provide a fully redundant chiller control system on a large scale with zero single points of failure. This combined with an expedited timeline to suit the customer’s immediate needs is proving a welcome challenge that UCS is excited to take part in.
Universal Controls had the opportunity to perform the controls installation for Micron Technologies’ new facility in Longmont, Colorado.
A combination of comfort cooling application and high-end data center work, the Micron Facility challenged our team with new experiences relating to integration with a series of chilled water supplied In Row Coolers (IRCs) on a large scale allowing us to hone our best practices for large scale data communication installations.
Serving as an installing contractor once again at the Biodesix facility in Louisville, Colorado UCS was still able to apply its technical capabilities with the complex design of this project.
Utilizing a venturi valve system with BACnet to Modbus integration these valves allowed for tight control of lab pressures and air circulation creating a high-level lab environment for the Biodesix team. Working on this project Universal Controls was able to challenge and grow the technical capabilities of its installation team to complement its technical team.
Other
As the installation contractor at the University Hills Hotel in Boulder, Colorado the UCS team has become intimately familiar with the control Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems with over 200 terminal units supplied by two dozen condensing units.
This project was a challenge for the UCS team with regular design changes with ever changing scope and timelines, as a result our team has grown very capable in working in a high intensity environment while still providing a quality product.
One of UCS’s first large projects, the work at the new Bureau of Land Management building at the Denver Federal Center was the first opportunity for UCS to leverage our technical capability to provide programming and commissioning support in addition to our installation services.
We were able to apply our abilities to meet the high standards of operation of GSA and in the process were able to add several of these standards to our own practices for future customers.
