The UCS forum is a place for building owners, facility staff, apprentices and working controls professionals to ask real questions and get useful answers. By creating an account or posting, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please just read rather than post.

Safety and technical advice — read this first

Answers here are peer discussion, not engineering direction. Building automation work touches electrical systems, life-safety systems, and equipment that can injure people or damage property. Anything you read on this forum — including replies from UCS staff — is general discussion offered without knowledge of your specific building, equipment, drawings or local requirements.

You are responsible for verifying anything you act on. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, the project documents, and all applicable codes and standards. Work that requires a licensed electrician, engineer or other qualified professional must be performed by one. Nothing posted here creates a professional or contractual relationship with UCS, and a forum reply is never a substitute for a site-specific engineered solution.

If a system is in an unsafe condition, stop and get qualified help — do not wait for a forum reply.

Do not post confidential or site-identifying information

This is a public forum. Please do not post anything that identifies a customer's building or exposes their systems, including: building names or addresses, network diagrams, IP addressing schemes, credentials, panel photos showing identifying detail, controller databases, or drawings marked confidential.

Describe the problem generically — "a central plant on a state facility" rather than the site name. This matters especially for government, healthcare, data-center and critical-infrastructure work. If you post something identifying, we may remove it without notice.

How to be a good participant

The rules are short:

  • Be useful. Specifics beat theory. Say what you actually saw, tried and measured.
  • Be civil. Disagree with the answer, not the person. Newcomers asking basic questions are welcome here.
  • No sales pitches. This includes UCS staff. Do not use the forum to solicit work, promote products, or recruit.
  • No spam, no bulk posting, no SEO link-dropping.
  • Do not misrepresent who you are or what qualifications you hold.
  • No harassment, discriminatory language, or personal attacks.
  • Post content you have the right to post. Do not paste copyrighted manuals, proprietary code, or another company's documents.
  • No illegal content or content that violates someone else's rights.

Accounts

You need an account to post. Keep your credentials secure and use a real, working email address — we use it for account recovery and notifications. You are responsible for activity under your account. One person, one account.

Your content, and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant UCS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute your posts as part of operating and promoting the forum, including allowing search engines to index them.

You confirm that you have the right to post the content and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. If you delete your account we will remove your profile, but replies you left in existing discussions may remain so that threads still make sense to future readers — tell us if you need something specific removed and we will consider it.

Moderation

The forum is moderated by the UCS team and by trusted community moderators. We may edit, move, lock or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, where we think it is warranted — typically for the reasons above. We try to be light-handed and to explain ourselves, but we are not obliged to publish or keep any particular post.

We do not pre-screen posts, and content posted by users is theirs, not ours. If you see something that breaks these rules, please report it or email contact@uniconllc.net.

No warranty

The forum is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, that content is accurate or complete, or that any question will be answered. To the fullest extent permitted by law, UCS is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the forum or from reliance on anything posted on it.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use the forum and what rights you have over it. Remember that anything you post in a discussion is public.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted by the "last updated" date above, and continued use of the forum means you accept the current version.
